A tuna a day keeps the doctor away

February 22, 2019

Tuna, both canned and fresh, is one of the most consumed fish in the world and a lot has been said about the health advantages of eating it.

In Moalia we trade with a wide variety of fresh fish but our star will always be the tuna.

In this blog we will discover the great benefits of adding this fresh fatty fish to our diet.

  • Advantages of consuming tuna

Tuna is one of the healthiest fish for human wellness and its consumption brings great benefits, which will be detailed down here.

  • Benefits of tuna

Fresh tuna is an oily blue fish with high nutritional values, and is rich in vitamins A, B and D. Vitamin A is responsible for the maintenance of teeth, skin and soft and bony tissues; vitamin B is essential for our growth and food metabolism while vitamin D absorbs calcium to promote bone formation and strengthening, and phosphorus, which enhances our brain health as well as our cognitive and memory capacity. Healthy bones, strong brain!

It important to highlight that tuna has a high protein content, making it an ideal food for both athletes and growing children alike. We recommend taking natural tuna at night as it has satiating effects and will help you burn proteins more easily and protect your immune system even when you sleep.

It is packed with a great amount of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are known to lower the cholesterol and the triglycerides, which prevents the formation of blood clots as well as the likelihood of suffering heart attacks, hypertension or obesity. In addition, according to a study by the University of Manchester, tuna protects the skin from the effects of the sun, reducing the chances of skin cancer

Finally, tuna has been shown to reduce the risk of depression in women as its fatty acids and saturated fats interact with female hormones to maintain selenium levels that cause irritability and moodiness.

All in all, we have seen that tuna is one of the most beneficial fish. In Moalia, we know the importance of the superiority of our products and we strive to ensure that, throughout the year, never lack the best pieces and with a quality backed by the savoir-faire of our company.
